- I am driving a 2017 XC90 and am trying to use the Spotify app on Sensus. I have a premium Spotify account. So far the performance from the Spotify app has been very disappointing. It is incredibly slow, taking forever (if ever) to show the album covers and start the music.

At the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona, Spain, Volvo announced that it will be the first automaker to integrate the music streaming app, Spotify, into its entire global lineup. The first vehicles to receive Spotify will be the XC90, S90, and V90 this spring.
Volvo and Spotify worked closely together to ensure that the user interface is familiar and user-friendly. The streaming service will take advantage of the large 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen and integrate Spotify's most popular features into the version found in Volvo's Sensus infotainment system to do away with the need of streaming music from a smartphone.

We are very proud of our unique and custom-made interface for Spotify,' said Bjrn Annwall, Senior Vice President Marketing Sales and Service at Volvo Cars, in a release. 'As before you can still play music from your Spotify smartphone app in your car, or you can use the in-car app, which will contain all of your favorite playlists, artists and albums. And with Spotify's ability to deliver extremely high-quality streaming it has never been a better time to get the most out of the Bowers & Wilkins sound system in our new XC90, S90 and V90.'
However, accessing Spotify will require a Premium subscription after the 30-day trial period expires for new users. An app will also be available for Volvo drivers who live in countries where Spotify is available. Currently, you can use Spotify and play music from your smartphone via Bluetooth streaming or Apple CarPlay, but the native app in the Sensus interface will have improved search functions compared to the app. Spotify Connect is also included in Volvo's integration of the streaming service into the Sensus system and enables passengers to use their mobile devices as remote controls for the in-car app without needing to connect them to the car.
